Ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene tape is the go-to material for low-temperature, high-wear applications where abrasion resistance and long-lasting low friction matter most. In operating environments below 150°F (66°C), UHMW tape often outperforms PTFE film in durability and impact toughness while delivering a lower-cost way to reduce drag and extend component life.

UHMW tape has an extremely low coefficient of friction that creates a smooth running surface for sliding, guiding, and conveying systems. It helps reduce drag, eliminate squeaks, prevent material buildup, and protect equipment surfaces from abrasion, puncture, and impact damage. UHMW is especially effective in high-contact wear areas where PTFE film can wear through faster.

Common Applications

  • Chute liners – reduces buildup and noise in gravity-fed material handling

  • Rail liners and guide surfaces – improves tracking and reduces wear on conveyors

  • Turn-bars and deflectors – low-friction web handling in converting lines

  • Vehicle panels, trim, and door edges – scratch and abrasion protection

  • Machine slides and bearing surfaces – reduces friction and extends service life

UHMW tape also resists moisture and many common industrial chemicals, making it a reliable choice for wet or corrosive environments. Available in multiple thicknesses and custom-slit widths, with an acrylic adhesive backing for strong bonding to most substrates.
